Phillip Island - Casey Stoner immediately step on the gas in the first free practice session. Although time is dropped, the Honda team rider was able to appear to be the fastest.
At the session held at Phillip Island Circuit on Friday (14/10/2011) morning local time, not wasting time and immediately led from the start with his RC212V. However, he had experienced a few incidents when the session has been running for 10 minutes.
Stoner, who was passing the bend 4, slipped. Luckily for him, the incident was not severe, so he can continue the free practice sessions to complete. The same was experienced by Marco Simoncelli shortly thereafter at the bend 10.
Stoner finally ended the session with a time of 1:30.475. He was 0.269 seconds ahead of Jorge Lorenzo in second place. Meanwhile, Simoncelli had to settle for third place.
Lorenzo tried to continue to pursue a record time of Stoner until the end of the session. Note the time also managed to continue to improve, but ultimately did not also pass Stoner.
