16 October 2011
Katsuaki Fujiwara perfect race to win the first Petronas Asia Road Racing Championship (ARRC) SuperSports 600cc title at the Zhuhai International Circuit, host to the second round this past 2011 season.
Japanese national who has mastered the elements on Saturday and Friday had a good start in Race 1. Starting from the pole he was able to steal the holeshot and dominated the race from start to finish, concluding with 29:31.502 seconds
Equally impressive is Syahrin Hafiz Abdullah. Malaysian youngsters make full use of the front row of a quick start Fujiwara tail while the rest of the field trapped in the fray in turn 1 of the first lap.
With five laps to go, Hafiz tried to make a pass at Fujiwara but the soft suspension is installed on a Yamaha almost threw him off balance. This allows her senior gaps themselves and end up with the advantages 4.147s while Hafiz second place with 29:35.649 seconds
Was third with 29:41.947 s Mohd Zamri Baba who got the best of friends and former teammates, Azlan Shah Kamaruzaman (Boon Siew Honda Malaysia Racing) in fourth and Ahmad Fuad Baharudin (Kawasaki Racing Bikes ART) fifth with 29 29:42.196 s and: 42.677s respectively.
Race 2 is difficult to Fujiwara. Not only did he have to defend his position from Zamri Baba who is determined to fight for the checkered flag but he had to fend off Chalermpol Polamai (Thailand Racing Yamaha) and Azlan Shah as well.
But Fujiwara prove he is not obedient because he successfully defended his line to the finish line as he completed the 18-lap race in 29:38.042 s while Chalermpol finished second with Baba and third Zamri 29:38.107, 29:38.195 s.
"I am very pleased and proud not only to win both races in Zhuhai but also because I am now 2011 SuperSports 600cc Champion. This is not an easy race because all my rivals very quickly here and in addition, this is my first time racing at the circuit This is making. victory even sweeter, and I want to thank everyone in the manual Kawasaki Racing Tech bits and all the sponsors for giving me a great motor and supported me Thank you very much!, "said an excited Fujiwara.
